There is a sickness in the evangelical church. The church has replaced the ministry of the Holy Spirit with modern marketing methods. Evangelistic techniques have produced many false conversions, filling the church with people who think they are Christians but who have never been born again.
I "accepted Christ" at a Billy Graham crusade when I was twelve years old. I was content with my beliefs until I fell on hard times and the church turned its back on me. There was obviously a major disconnect between what these people claimed to believe and what they actually practiced.
Then I learned that no one makes a decision for Jesus Christ. God the Father already made the choice before the world began. Those who have been chosen are born again by the Holy Spirit and given eternal life in Christ. No one can do anything to help produce their own salvation because everyone is stillborn spiritually. Just as you cannot bring about your own birth, so you cannot determine whether or not you will be born into the family of God. But the evangelical church has succumbed to the marketing techniques of modern evangelism, producing legions of false converts with a four step plan of salvation or a contrived prayer. That is why there is so much hypocrisy in the church.
The teachings of Reformed Theology, otherwise known as the "Doctrines of Grace," transformed my life. I learned what it really means to be saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. In this blog I will share these truths with you in the hope that you too will come to known the living God who alone can bring salvation.
